Transrapid 05
The Transrapid 05 was the first maglev vehicle approved to carry passengers. In 1979 it carried visitors at the IVA (International Transport Exhibition) in Hamburg.

The first with passengers
The TR05 was the first Transrapid that ordinary people were allowed to ride in.
The development contract for the TR05 was awarded in 1977. For the first time, MBB, Krauss-Maffei and Thyssen-Henschel worked together on one vehicle. The TR05 adopted the redundant individual magnet control of the MBB KOMET and the efficient, economical propulsion from Thyssen-Henschel.
On a 908-meter track built for the International Transport Exhibition (IVA) in Hamburg in 1979, it reached up to 75 km/h. After the IVA, the track was dismantled and partly rebuilt in Kassel. There, the TR05 kept running until 1983, when the Transrapid Test Facility Emsland went into operation.
