Transrapid 01
In 1969, Krauss-Maffei showed its first maglev model, the Transrapid 01. It was only 60 centimeters long and was meant to prove one thing above all: that it really levitates.

History
A model hardly anyone believed in
The TR01 was not a vehicle for people but a proof: levitation works.
As early as 1969, Krauss-Maffei presented the first prototype. The small model merely demonstrated the levitation function.
At one presentation, some guests found it hard to believe that it was really levitating. Even professors and scientists examined the vehicle closely because they suspected secretly installed wheels.
