Nuremberg is considering building a maglev line. The Transport System Bögl (TSB), which is being developed and tested in Sengenthal, is to be used.

Minister-President Söder (head of the Bavarian state government) announced the plans during the new state government’s first policy statement in the Bavarian Landtag (state parliament). They are part of efforts to make Bavaria a high-tech location.

Nuremberg’s Lord Mayor Marcus König and Dr. Andrea Heilmaier, the city’s head of economic and science affairs, support the TSB line announced by Minister-President Söder between the university, the trade fair grounds and the Südklinikum Nürnberg hospital.

Lord Mayor Markus König told Marktspiegel.de the following: “A test track for a maglev between the university, the trade fair grounds and the Südklinikum in Nuremberg would be a significant improvement to the city’s transport offering on an extremely attractive and heavily used axis. It would also considerably enhance Nuremberg as a technology location with its important transport and rail history – keywords being Germany’s first railway and first driverless subway in Germany.

A few weeks ago, Markus Söder visited the TSB test track in Sengenthal. “Thank you for the impressive ride! Fast, quiet and ecological – this is a glimpse into the future,” said Söder after the ride.
