Welcome to maglevhub.com: Every Maglev in the World, in One Place

New name, new focus: maglevhub.com now covers every maglev technology on the planet, from Shanghai and Japan to China's test tracks and the hyperloop, independent, ad-free and with sources.

Maglev is no longer a German story. Trains levitate in daily service in Shanghai, Changsha, Beijing and near Nagoya. Japan is tunneling under the Southern Alps for a 500 km/h line. China is testing vehicles at 600 km/h and more, and start-ups from Poland to Switzerland are trying to bring levitation onto existing rails and into vacuum tubes. What was missing was one place that follows all of it. That place is maglevhub.com.

A new name for a bigger mission

maglevhub.com started in 2026 as the international offshoot of magnetbahn.de, the German maglev platform that has been running since 2020. For a few months it went by the name maglevchannel.com. With this relaunch it gets the name that describes what it wants to be: a hub. One address where every maglev system in the world is documented, compared and put into context, in English and for readers everywhere.

Every system, not just one

The heart of the relaunch is the new Technologies section. It covers every maglev technology that is running, being built or being tested today, each with a fact sheet, its history, its status in 2026, its strengths and weaknesses, and a list of sources.

On top of that, the overview page compares all systems side by side and lists every maglev line in commercial operation today. Seven of them run worldwide, and only one is high-speed.

Records are not timetables

Maglev news is full of big numbers. 600 km/h, 800 km/h, 1,000 km/h. maglevhub.com keeps them apart from what actually runs. A record set by a one-tonne test sled on a one-kilometer track is reported as exactly that. A line that runs every day at 300 km/h is reported as that. Every page distinguishes between record speeds and service speeds, between prototypes and passenger lines, between plans and construction sites.

The same applies to the hyperloop. The idea is fascinating, but after the closure of Hyperloop One and the bankruptcies of Hardt and Zeleros in 2026, it deserves an honest look rather than more hype. You will find that look here.

The Transrapid stays at the core

The Transrapid remains the most proven high-speed maglev in the world and keeps its full section on maglevhub.com: how it works, its history, its routes and the Emsland test facility. The interactive tools stay too. The travel time calculator works for routes anywhere in the world, the fact check puts common claims into context, and the vehicle overview documents every Transrapid and TSB vehicle.

International by design

maglevhub.com is written for an international audience. That is why country-specific topics such as German party politics are no longer part of this site. They stay where they belong, on the German platform magnetbahn.de. maglevhub.com looks at the technology, the projects and the facts, wherever in the world they happen.

What does not change: maglevhub.com is independent, ad-free and factual, and every claim comes with a source. If something is out of date or wrong, we want to know.

Build it with us

A hub for the whole world cannot be run from one desk. maglevhub.com is looking for people who want to help: writers, translators, researchers and video makers, especially from countries where maglev is being built or debated right now. If you follow maglev in Japan, China, Korea, Europe or the Americas, your knowledge belongs here.
