New Association Calls for Deploying the Transrapid in Germany
For more than five years, I have been working through magnetbahn.de to bring the opportunities and possibilities of the Transrapid back into public debate. In that time I have had countless conversations with citizens, engineers, politicians and journalists. A petition with more than 62,000 signatures has shown how great the interest is in a modern, fast and climate-friendly alternative to existing rail and air travel.
But one thing has become just as clear: on your own, you hit limits. While other associations prefer to punish and bully committed members, tinker unsuccessfully with old trains, pull weeds or sweep parking lots, the real question about the future of long-distance travel in Germany remains completely unanswered.
That is exactly why Zukunft Fernverkehr (“Future of Long-Distance Travel”) is now being created: a new association that complements the educational work of maglevhub.com. We want to advocate for technologies like the Transrapid in a politically neutral but determined way. This is not only about technology but also about a clear voice in the social and political debate.
Zukunft Fernverkehr stands for a new generation of engagement: fact-based and independent. We want to bring together people who believe in progress and at the same time build structures that make it possible to advance projects over the long term.
Preparations for the founding are already under way, and anyone who wants to help shape it is warmly invited to become part of this initiative. Because the future of long-distance travel must not be left to chance. It needs people who actively shape it.
