Bögl Receives Europe’s First Maglev Operating License
TSB Betriebs GmbH of the Max Bögl group of companies has become the first company in Europe to receive official approval to operate public maglev lines. The Federal Railway Authority (Eisenbahn-Bundesamt) in Bonn has officially confirmed the operating license under Section 5 of the General Maglev Act.
The approval was handed over by the president of the Federal Railway Authority, Stefan Dernbach, to Stefan Bögl, chairman of the executive board of the Max Bögl group, and to Dr. Bert Zamzow, managing director of TSB Betriebs GmbH. Stefan Bögl called the decision an important step for the transport transition and proof that innovative technologies in Germany can finally find their way into real operation. With the operating license granted, a European company now holds, for the first time, the approval to run commercial maglev lines in public transport.
Max Bögl offers the Transport System Bögl as a fully integrated solution that extends from planning through construction to operation and includes all technical components. This approach allows planning and approval procedures under the Maglev Planning Act to be carried out efficiently, since infrastructure, vehicles and operating technology come from a single source and the modular guideway girders allow particularly fast and controllable construction.
This means that, for the first time since the end of the major Transrapid projects, the legal and technical prerequisites are in place to realize a first public maglev line in Germany.
