Non-Profit Status Granted to New Transrapid Association
The association Zukunft Fernverkehr e.V. (“Future of Long-Distance Travel”), officially founded in February 2026, received tax recognition as a non-profit organization from the German tax office in March 2026. Donations and membership fees can now be claimed on tax returns.
The association traces back to a working group that was launched in 2023 in the orbit of the magnetbahn.de portal. On February 1, 2026, the group came together as a registered association in Lathen, the site of the former Transrapid test track.
The association’s aim is to inform the public objectively about Transrapid maglev technology, refute misinformation and become active nationwide with information events. The association sees itself as an independent platform for everyone interested in a possible return of the Transrapid in Germany.
With non-profit status granted in March 2026, contributions to the association become tax-deductible. Both one-time donations and regular membership fees can be claimed against income tax, provided a corresponding donation receipt is issued.
