Greens Ignored and Rejected the Transrapid Petition, Then Invented Accusations After Criticism

The Instagram post by Swantje Michaelsen is an attempt to retroactively cover up her own political failings with moral arguments. The accusations leveled against David Harder and his Transrapid petition are false and distort the actual course of events.

In fact, the accusation of “AfD instrumentalization” serves above all as political self-exoneration. By demonstratively distancing themselves from the AfD and wrongly branding my neutral, non-partisan petition as “close to the AfD” after the fact, the Greens create a convenient justification for their own misconduct. This creates the impression that rejection and ignorance were morally required.

In fact, there was no serious willingness to talk on the part of the Greens’ circle. Attempts at contact were ignored or rejected. There was no invitation from the Greens, only from the AfD and from a single SPD member of the Bundestag, who canceled afterwards.

That in the end only one parliamentary group was prepared to accept a petition with 62,000 supporters was not staged; it was the direct consequence of this blockade by all the other parties. The Greens deliberately reverse cause and effect. It was not I who placed the petition one-sidedly; the SPD and the Greens removed themselves from the process. An SPD appointment agreed on later was also canceled at short notice, when I had already traveled to Berlin.

The accusation of “instrumentalization” is therefore nothing but an insinuation. Anyone who ignores a petition, rejects it or cancels appointments cannot credibly pose afterwards and attribute political motives to the initiator just because others were willing to listen. That is defamation.

My petition was not instrumentalized. What is being instrumentalized now is the accusation itself, to cover up their own ducking of the issue and a decades-long rejection of the maglev. 62,000 citizens were first ignored and are now being defamed.

My door was and is open to all parliamentary groups. Anyone who doesn’t use it should not claim afterwards to have been excluded.
