From September 2024, magnetbahn.org will be replaced by a new site that is much more advanced and informative. Welcome, magnetbahn.de! In this post you will learn more about the top 10 new features.

Since 2020, magnetbahn.org has been the world’s only maglev information platform – no other website covers the Transrapid and related systems as intensively. Over the years, the content on offer has continually evolved. This includes in particular the extensive vehicle overview with information on more than 20 vehicles, countless posts, our fact check and the easy-to-understand technical explanations of maglev technologies.

From September 2024, magnetbahn.org will be replaced by magnetbahn.de. Magnetbahn.de is a website programmed from scratch that uses the same design elements as magnetbahn.org.

I developed magnetbahn.de with a particular focus on usability, speed and privacy, to give you the best web experience. In terms of content, magnetbahn.de builds on the experience I have gathered with magnetbahn.org over the past few years.

In this post I would like to introduce you to the top 10 new features of magnetbahn.de.

1. Fresh design

To match the new website, magnetbahn.de shines in new colors. The logo (formerly from 2021) has also been updated and now looks more modern and rounder.

2. Search

Due to technical difficulties, magnetbahn.org never had an internal search. I am proud to announce that this changes from now on. Through the menu you can open the search page, which lets you search for specific content across the entire website.

3. Improved "Transrapid" page

The Transrapid page has been refreshed and now includes new content.

4. Improved "About us" page

The “About us” page now has lots of new information and details on projects in which magnetbahn.de is involved.

5. New "History" page

For the first time, magnetbahn.de now covers the entire history of the Transrapid high-speed maglev: from 1922 to today.

6. New "Petition" page

The new page was set up especially for the petition and covers the motivations, successes and current status of the Transrapid petition, which, by the way, has currently gathered about 57,000 signatures.

7. New "Shop" page

magnetbahn.de is an ad-free information platform. The operation and further development of our content offering is funded by revenue from our shops. The new “Shop” page lists all the shops through which our products are sold.

8. New layout for posts

As you can see right now, posts have a new layout. The content now takes up more of your screen. You will find further information below. (Desktop only)

9. Faster

magnetbahn.de relies on modern tools that make sure the website and associated media load quickly. In recent weeks, the former magnetbahn.org website had increasing problems with long loading times, which is now a thing of the past.

10. Privacy in focus

magnetbahn.de is completely free of advertising and of privacy-hostile tracking and profiling tools that collect and sell your data.

Information platforms, blogs and news sites often rely on advertising to finance their own operation and development. With magnetbahn.de I distance myself from such concepts and prefer to finance operations through voluntary MagnetBahn+ contributions or shop revenue.

Visions remain

magnetbahn.de is the platform for everyone who is convinced that maglevs are an important building block of the transport transition (Verkehrswende). The facts clearly speak in favor of using efficient maglevs. For this reason I will not let anything demotivate me and I am sticking to my vision for maglevs in Germany. With the new information platform magnetbahn.de, an important step has been taken.
